Profile

A short biography of HAF

Hironori A. Fujii is the Director and President of TMIT Research Center, since 2007 originated from Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Technology as a venture enterprise of Tokyo Metropolitan University. He is a professor emeritus of both of the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute Technology and the Tokyo Metropolitan University. He is Doctor of Engineering (Kyoto University) and also Honorable Doctor (University of Beograd). After he has graduated the Department of Aeronautical Engineering in Kyoto University, he was enrolled into a projective activity to improve the educational system of the Tokyo Metropolitan College of Technology and in 1985, he became a representative chairman and Professor of the Department of Aerospace Engineering for a new Institution named as the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Technology in 1986 and the Tokyo Metropolitan University (2006-2008). He was professors of Aerospace Course at Department of Mechanics in the Kanagawa Institute of Technology (2008-2015) and also at Department of Aerospace Engineering in College of Science and Technology in the Nihon University (2008-2011).

Prof. Fujii is the author of about 150 archival journal publications on the study of dynamics and control of space structures partly published in the AIAA Journal of Guidance, Control and Dynamics, some of which have presented the idea of the "Mission-Function Control" which is able to serve to overcome control difficulties for time-varying, nonlinear, and distributed parameter systems. He has received the 1994 best paper award of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences. Prof. Fujii is organizing many groups consists of universities, organizations, and companies including those in Japan and international countries. Prof. Fujii was a representative of the international tether project on the sounding rocket experiment S520-25 launched on the summer in 2010 and also international group for space tether experiments. He is now a representative coordinator of Air Borne Wind Energy Project in Japan

Prof. Fujii is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Sciences, and is a Member of the American Astronautical Society, and of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers.
